The Jab Is Still King: A Breakdown of Modern Footwork

The jab looks simple, which is exactly why so many fighters get it wrong. It isn't just a punch thrown to close distance — it's a measuring tool, a rhythm-setter, and a defensive shield all at once.

In our Footwork Mastery sessions, the jab is taught alongside the step that supports it, never in isolation. A jab thrown without matching footwork leaves a fighter overextended and exposed to a counter.

Frame-by-frame video review of our amateur squad shows the same pattern in every clean knockdown this season: a small forward step, a jab that measures range, and a pivot that was already loaded before the punch landed.
